Destiny lowers the bar

After it was revealed on Friday that new Destiny USA executive Barry Stewart (also known as Steward) has a rap sheet 20 arrests long, Destiny spokesman Michael Lorenz mistakenly said, "Guys like Barry Stewart/Steward deserve a second chance." What Lorenz meant to say is that guys like Barry Stewart/Steward deserve a 21st chance.

Over the weekend, in the wake of Lorenz's gaffe, Destiny (also known as DestiNY™) went into crisis mode, engaging a strategy consulting firm that specializes in creative wordplay. The result of the engagement, unveiled by Destiny this morning, is a new motto for the project: "In the 21st century, guys deserve a 21st chance." Effective immediately, this will replace the project's former motto: "Nothing like it in the world." Destiny's consultants pointed out that the former motto is no longer valid now that the project has a number of elements in common with New York's Sing Sing Correctional Facility.

Swing low, sweet chariot,
comin' for to carry me home...

After its embarrassing smoke-and-mirrors groundbreaking ceremony two years ago for a still-non-existent luxury hotel, Destiny has its new employees break ground for a more modest initiative: a license plate manufacturing facility.
